Pacific Grove - Victorian Charm
Never too cold, never too hot, lots of fog in the mornings! Perfect temperature year-round, right on the water. PG is next to Pebble Beach, Carmel, and Monterey, with tons of things to do – cycling, golfing, tennis, pickleball. Walking along a beautiful coastline. Whale watching and fishing. Small, original, one-two story brick village, with lots of family-owned restaurants and stores, plus of course the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium Just five minutes away. Most of the homes are still intact from the Victorian-era, with front porches and parlours, and many are open for Christmas tours. The Asilomar Conference Grounds are also in PG, a large, natural log-cabin style rambling place, with big stone fireplaces and impressive wood beam assembly rooms, designed by Julia Morgan (of Hearst Castle fame).

Wichita - The Land of Ahhhs
Move to Wichita. Soon, you’ll likely say things like, “Wow! I get so much house for the money” and “Wow! My commute to work is nothing!” and “Wow! Did you see that sunset last night?” and “I love all the arts community here!” and “The people here really love their community – have you seen all the city flags flying throughout town?” and “It’s so easy to fly in and out of Wichita, and you get anywhere quickly – it’s in the middle!” and finally “What a great place to raise a family – it’s so safe here!”

Houston - Heavenly Houston
The city named after the man that defeated Mexico to launch Texas as a Republic is more than it’s four and a half million people, its many miles of expressway, and a ship channel that invites worldwide shipping and commerce. It’s the Houston Astros, the Texans, a museum district par excellence, every kind of cuisine known to mankind, and the friendliest people in the Lone Star State. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be an exciting ride.

Cincinnati also known as the “Queen City” is located in southwest Ohio along the Ohio River. Not too big, but not too small metropolitan area offers great scenery, history, beautiful art, professional sports teams, custom restaurants, live plays, children’s museum, amusement parks, several music venues, and a wonderful zoo. Big city life but a short drive to rural forests and farms. Geographically located near the center of America, Cincinnati offers safety from catastrophic weather events and gives easy access to Interstates which criss cross the nation.

Huntsville - Walk Everywhere Village
Just north of Huntsville is an area (Providence) known for residents walking everywhere. Friendly neighborhoods with a hometown America look, front porches, clean sidewalks, and your favorite cafe just down the block! Local businesses and shops complete the scene. Much of the year, Huntsville has a Mediterranean type weather, so gardens are abundant.

Houston - An unexpected favorite place to live
Houston is a wonderful place to live and so much to do. After a job transfer landed me here I had to find a place to live, and it seemed so big and impersonal. After a lot of looking there it was, an affordable neighborhood (Woodway), tucked away behind a coffee house, apartments surrounded by trees, flowers, and a beautiful courtyard, perfect for walking the dogs, running, walking etc… Right around the corner are shops, restaurants, healthy grocery stores, and more that you can walk to. This Hilcroft, Westheimer area is just a 5-mile drive to big malls and easy access to main highways. I truly love coming home.

Bullard - Hometown in the Piney Woods of East Texas
Bullard is a great bedroom community to raise a family in, with good schools, and all in the rolling hills and Piney Woods of East Texas, near Tyler, famed for exporting roses. It’s located just far enough away from the city to feel like you’re living in the country, but you still have quick access to plenty of restaurants, shopping, hospitals, entertainment. The Bullard countryside produces huge quantities of pecans, another world-wide export.

There is a major university – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley – and, it must be mentioned, great Latin cuisine. Madison - It’s a Wonderful Life!
I’ve always thought it would be great to live in a town like Bedford Falls in the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”! My husband and I found it when we came here with our toddlers 23 years ago. It’s a bedroom community to many professionals working in NYC. The direct train takes you from a town with loads of trees, homes with gardens, great schools, 3 nearby colleges, church bells ringing every hour, a charming Main Street, great shops and restaurants, to the heart of Manhattan (Penn Station) in 50 minutes. Perfect!

McKinney - Moved to Dallas area from LA
Moved from California and loving the change-up. Just 30 minutes north of Dallas. Friendliest people. Schools are great. The parks in the area of McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Prosper blow anything we had in LA out of the water. There are small pockets of places your wouldn’t expect like Downtown McKinney (which is bustling with folks) with historic buildings and homes surrounding by tons of restaurants and places to grab coffee or a drink. There is even a Croatian village – a cobblestone European villa that has no business being in the middle of North Dallas. It’s gorgeous and has homes, apartments, restaurants, and a ridiculously cool church on a small lake. Plenty of stuff to do around the wider area — sports, movies, outdoors, stuff, indoor kid things. It really has it all.

Grass Valley / Nevada City is a great place to visit with the family. There are easy drives and hikes to fishing holes, the Yuba river, historical sites (gold mining town) farms and gardens to tour! There are cooking classes and foraging excursions available to learn about Native California plants. Skiing & Lake Tahoe are only 60-90 minutes away.

Montecito - Star Studded Enclave
This is the escape town for celebs who need to be close to LA, but not live there. Stand in line for coffee, eat at one of the great cafes on Coast Village Road (or the Upper Village on Valley), and it’s amazing who might be near you. Best of all is the great food! Lovely Butterfly Beach, too. Rentals, errrr, very difficult. It’s gone the way of furnished for 30 days, unfortunately.

Santa Barbara - An Historic, Lovely Town
It’s a jewel – and so popular. The natural boundaries keep it contained – State lands to the south, mountains to the east, ocean to the south/west, more State parkland north of college town Goleta. No buildings over 4 stories – so the downtown is LOVELY – thank goodness it didn’t get messed up in the 60’s like most charming hometowns – no glass and steel here! Many, many things to do, so many museums, and more charities per capita than any other town in America!

Paso Robles - Cowboy Town in Central CA!
This is more Texas than Texas! Lot of horses, livestock, fairs; dusty roads in the summer heat, cowboy boots and hippies to hipsters. A vibrant, old red brick, very charming downtown, central park square, and many wineries as the grapes grow nearby.

Carpinteria - Safest Beach
Straight out of the fifties, this SoCal beach town offers all the quaint and homey ambience of an old-fashioned beach community while able to serve the hip with all modern amenities and comforts. We’ve been going there for so many years, we finally bought a tiny place as near to the cool salt marsh as possible!
